ESE Teacher and Reading Specialist
Peggy Forgan holds a Masters Degree in Exceptional Student Education from Florida State University. Mrs. Forgan is certified in K-12 ESE and Age 3-3rd grade General Education. She has spent the last 22 years in the field of education, including teaching, tutoring, consulting and working at FAU.
Mrs. Forgan’s extensive educational career began in 1991 as a teacher for Gulfstream Elementary School in Miami, Florida. Her responsibilities included instruction for K-3rd grade that also incorporated a class for Autistic children. She also worked with Pre-kindergarten Special Education Varying Exceptionalities classes.
Mrs. Forgan has had many educational experiences since then. She has spent time as a marketing representative for The Learning Company, Inc., supervised student teachers in special education at Georgia Southwestern State University, was an Early Childhood Consultant for the Marine Corps Logistics Base; NAEYC accredited child development center in Albany, GA., was an educational consultant for early childhood special education, and was a certified trainer for Redirecting Children’s Behavior. She also became a project coordinator for the Southeast Regional Comprehensive System of Personnel Development Grant at Florida Atlantic University Department of Exceptional Student Education. Finally, Mrs. Forgan worked for the Palm Beach County Public School system as an ESE Teacher.
Her most current work endeavors includes being a private reading tutor using the Barton Reading and Spelling System of which she is a trained specialist. Additionally, she works with her husband, Dr. Jim Forgan, as a Cogmed Working Memory Coach and is the ESE coordinator and assistant reading and spelling teacher for students at The Academic Link.
Mrs. Forgan has been married for 22 years and has two children. Her husband, Jim, is a Professor at FAU and a School Psychologist. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of School Neuropsychology. Her daughter, Emily, is 18 and recently completed her freshman year at FSU. Her son, Teddy, is 14 and will be entering his sophomore year at Jupiter High in the fall. They have two dogs, Bailey and Dolly, and one cat named Mystery.
Aside from her passion for teaching children, Mrs. Forgan somehow finds time to have fun with her family as well as serving others. She and her son, Teddy, help out at the Community Life Center in Belle Glade, Florida. With her daughter, Emily, they volunteer as a side walkers with Christ Fellowship’s Special Needs Equestrian Ministry. She and Emily have also attended a mission trip to Peru with her church, Christ Fellowship.
Mrs. Forgan loves the beach, boating, FSU football and spending time with family. She also loves seafood, reading and traveling. Mrs. Forgan has entered two full Disney Marathons, and finished both times!
Mrs. Forgan and her family reside in Jupiter, Florida.
